How to connect Granite to ChatGPT
Approve specific Granite permissions, ask supported questions with your financial context, review assistant activity, and revoke access when you choose.
Granite can provide approved context to ChatGPT
Granite’s supported assistant connection lets ChatGPT request specific budgeting information or actions from Granite after you authorize the connection. This can support questions about available budget, recent transactions, monthly insights, recurring cash flow, and purchase simulations.
ChatGPT does not receive unrestricted access to your Granite account. Granite checks the connection, requested permission, subscription entitlement, and supported tool each time an eligible request runs.
Start the connection from ChatGPT
Open the Granite app or connector from a supported ChatGPT experience. When ChatGPT needs Granite authorization, it sends you to Granite to sign in and review the permissions requested for that connection.
Confirm that you are on Granite’s authentic sign-in and authorization experience. After signing in, read the requested permissions, approve only the access you want to grant, and return to ChatGPT when the flow finishes.
Permissions are grouped by what ChatGPT can do
Read permissions allow ChatGPT to request approved Granite context. Action and simulation permissions allow supported requests that go beyond reading, although Granite continues to validate the action when it runs.

Some assistant capabilities require a subscription
Basic Granite guidance can be available without reading personal financial data. Tools that read transactions, Insights, recurring activity, goals, or other customer-specific financial context can require an active Granite subscription or enabled entitlement.
Approving a permission does not bypass a subscription requirement. If an eligible tool is unavailable, review your Granite subscription and the permissions granted to the assistant connection.
Questions you can ask when the matching access is enabled
Granite supplies structured product context for supported workflows. ChatGPT creates the conversational response, so review important amounts in Granite before making a time-sensitive financial decision.
- How much is available in my Granite budget?
- What categories account for most of my recent spending?
- What recurring inflows or outflows are coming up?
- How would a possible purchase affect the rest of my budget?
- What changed in my monthly Insights?
- Show recent transactions that match a supported request
Review the connection in Assistant Access
In Granite, open Settings, then Assistant Access. The page shows whether ChatGPT is connected, the permissions currently granted, and recent assistant activity available for review.
Activity can identify the Granite tool used, whether it succeeded, and when the request occurred. Use this history to confirm that recent access matches the questions or actions you expected.
Adjust or revoke access
Where offered, change the enabled permission groups and save the new access. Remove permissions that are no longer needed rather than leaving broader access in place for a future conversation.
Choose Disconnect ChatGPT to revoke the Granite authorization and prevent future requests through that connection. Disconnecting ChatGPT does not cancel your Granite subscription, disconnect your banks, delete assistant conversations stored by another service, or delete your Granite account.
Assistant access and Granite’s in-app AI control are separate
Assistant Access controls whether an external assistant can request approved Granite tools and data through its authorization. Granite’s external AI processing preference in Personal Details controls supported in-product AI explanations and Savings Insights.
Changing one control does not automatically make the other connection disappear. Review both areas when you want to limit all optional AI-assisted experiences.
If the connection does not work
If the problem continues, contact Granite with the approximate time, the kind of question or tool requested, and whether Assistant Access shows an active connection. Do not include conversation secrets, access tokens, bank credentials, or full account numbers.
- Confirm you signed in to the intended Granite account
- Review whether the requested permission was approved
- Check whether the tool requires an active subscription
- Open Assistant Access and confirm ChatGPT shows as connected
- Disconnect and begin a fresh authorization if the earlier flow did not finish
- Review assistant activity for a failed request and its time
