How to use Granite daily budget change alerts
Choose a meaningful percentage threshold and receive an optional push notification when your daily budget changes significantly.
Alerts tell you when a change may deserve a look
Granite’s daily budget is designed to move as eligible spending, income, financial-plan changes, and the passage of time update what remains available. A daily budget change alert can tell you when that movement is large enough to meet the percentage you selected.
The alert is a prompt to review the latest context—not a fraud alert, overdraft warning, purchase approval, or instruction to stop spending.
Turn alerts on and choose a threshold
Open Settings, then Daily Budget Change Alerts. Enter a Minimum change percentage from 1 through 100, enable notifications, and save your changes.
A lower percentage is more sensitive and may notify you about smaller movements. A higher percentage waits for a larger change. Start with a threshold that would make the updated daily number meaningfully different for the decisions you normally make.
| Threshold | What it emphasizes |
|---|---|
| 5% | Smaller movements and more frequent review |
| 10% | A balanced starting point for many budgets |
| 25% | Only larger changes in the daily amount |
How Granite evaluates the change
After connected accounts synchronize, Granite compares today’s daily budget with yesterday’s daily budget. If the percentage movement meets or exceeds your saved threshold, Granite can send one push notification for that day.
Granite sends at most one qualifying daily-budget change notification per day. Additional transactions or synchronization events can still change the number inside the app without producing another alert that day.
What can create a qualifying movement
The notification does not identify a single cause because more than one input can move between comparisons. Open Granite and review the current budget together with recent activity and any financial-information changes.
- A purchase, deposit, or other eligible transaction becoming available
- Pending activity posting with a different amount
- A corrected, ignored, or restored transaction
- An income, recurring-expense, savings, or investment change
- Delayed connected-account activity catching up
- Normal redistribution as the budgeting period progresses
If you expected an alert but did not receive one
Operating systems can delay or group push notifications based on device settings such as Focus modes, notification summaries, battery conditions, or app-level permission. The current number inside Granite is the authoritative product state.
- Confirm the alert is enabled and the threshold was saved
- Check that push notifications are allowed for Granite in device settings
- Confirm the daily budget changed by at least the selected percentage
- Remember that Granite sends at most one qualifying alert per day
- Check whether connected-account activity has synchronized yet
- Open Granite directly in case the device delayed or suppressed delivery
If alerts feel too frequent or too quiet
Raise the threshold when smaller changes are not useful enough to interrupt you. Lower it when you want earlier notice of movement. You can also disable the alert without changing how Granite calculates or displays your budget.
The best threshold is personal: it should draw attention to a change that might alter your next decision without turning ordinary budget movement into noise.
What to review after an alert
- Today, This Week, and This Month for the updated context
- Recent transactions and pending activity
- Large income, expense, refund, or transfer records
- Ignored or manually added transactions
- Recent changes to income, recurring expenses, savings, or investments
- Bank Connections if expected activity appears delayed
Alerts do not change the underlying budget
Turning alerts on, off, or changing the percentage only changes when Granite may notify you. It does not alter the daily-budget calculation, connected-account synchronization, transaction treatment, or your financial plan.
If the number itself looks wrong, investigate the inputs and transactions rather than changing the notification threshold.
